BLAINE, Minn. — The Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party has endorsed hotel magnate Jim Graves as its candidate to challenge the state's highest-profile Republican, Michele Bachmann.
At its district convention in Blaine Saturday, DFLers in Minnesota's 6th Congressional District voted to endorse Graves on the first ballot over Stillwater area businessman Brian McGoldrick and St. Cloud workplace consultant Anne Nolan. McGoldrick and Nolan have earlier said they would drop out of the race if they didn't receive the DFL endorsement.
The St. Cloud Times reports Republicans endorsed the re-election of Bachmann earlier Saturday in Mounds View.
Graves is chief executive of Graves Global Hospitality, a company with holdings that include the Graves 601 Hotel in downtown Minneapolis. Graves is a St. Cloud native who now lives in south Minneapolis.
