Discussion will focus on political ads

NORTHFIELD — Just in time for Election Day, Carleton College's Humanities Center will present a moderated discussion about the impact of the 2012 campaign ads on Sunday on campus.

Bill Hillsman, a 1975 Carleton graduate and founder and head of North Woods Advertising, a Minneapolis advertising firm, ad Barbara Allen, a political science professor, will lead the discussion, which begins at 2:30 p.m. in Weitz Center for Creativity, room 236.

Their presentation will examine the truthfulness, accuracy and transparency in current political advertising. The event is open to the public. Admission is free.

North Woods is recognized as a leading political advertising company and perhaps is best-known for its work on the late Sen. Paul Wellstone's 1990 campaign ads, credited with helping Wellstone to an upset victory. The firm won two Effie Awards, the highest honor in marketing.

For information about the event, call 507-222-5446. The Weitz Center for Creativity is at 320 N. Third St. in Northfield.
