MANTORVILLE — A 29-year-old Dodge Center man has been charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly assaulting a girl while she slept at a home in Dodge Center.
Matthew Daryl Hoffman was charged July 31 in Dodge County District Court with first-degree criminal sexual conduct. He remains in the Steele County Detention Center on $50,000 unconditional bail set by Dodge County District Judge Joseph Wieners.
According to the court complaint, the teenage victim was allegedly assaulted at Hoffman's residence early on July 24. The victim protested to make Hoffman stop and "he finally did and walked away," according to the complaint. The victim immediately went to tell her sister and mother, then was taken to Owatonna Hospital for an assault exam, where she also spoke with an investigator from the Dodge County Sheriff's Office.
Hoffman was taken into custody for questioning on July 30, and he denied assaulting the girl.
His next court date is set for Wednesday. Hoffman faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a $40,000 fine if convicted.
