MANKATO -- A pair of familiar dorm towers at Minnesota State-Mankato were imploded on Saturday, replaced by newer dorms.

The 12-story Gage Towers were opened in 1965, and were used by the Minnesota Vikings for decades during training camps.

The towers were vacated last summer after the Minnesota Vikings, who used the dorms for decades, finished training camp.

The vacant space will be used for parking.
