A music teacher at Elton Hills Elementary School in Rochester has died unexpectedly.
"We are sad to inform you that Mr. Greg Whitcomb, a music teacher at your child's school, died suddenly yesterday," the school told parents in an e-mail and letters sent home with students.
Jason Peltier, the father of a third-grader, said his daughter liked Whitcomb.
"I didn't know him personally, but my daughter spoke very, very highly of him," Peltier said. "She just loves music and instruments, and she always looks forward to music class."
The school plans to have staff available Monday to meet with students who need to talk about Whitcomb's death.

The cause of Whitcomb's death was unclear Friday.
"We have little information regarding his death other than that he had been ill earlier this week," the school told parents.
