Fair season kicked into high gear on Wednesday with the openings of both the Wabasha County Fair in Wabasha and the Dodge County Free Fair in Kasson. They both run through Sunday.
Both fairs feature the standard draws, such as livestock shows, food and carnivals. But they also offer some new features, including mud bog racing and a semi-truck pull at the Dodge Fair.
On Monday, the Olmsted County Free Fair begins at the Olmsted County fairgrounds, and it will run through July 28.
Other festivals running this weekend include the Root River Antique Historical Power Association Show in Spring Valley andGood Neighbor Days in Byron
The weather should be favorable, with some cooling from this week's heat and humidity. The highs on Saturday and Sunday will be in the 70s.
