ROSE CREEK — A combination garage and shed, and its contents, next to a house on the outskirts of Austin, were destroyed this morning in a fire that may have been caused by a lightning strike.
The Rose Creek Fire Department, with help from the Austin Fire Department, responded and got there "in the nick of time," said Rose Creek Fire Chief Fred Ulven.
If they had arrived later, the house could have been badly damaged, he said. Instead, there was just minor damage to the outside.
The house was on 220th Street near Austin County Club, he said. The owners, who were home, got out safely.
