First trial set in hazing allegations

CLARION, Iowa — The first trial related to allegations of hazing at a northern Iowa high school has been scheduled for February.

An 18-year-old accused of hazing freshmen on the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows football team recently pleaded not guilty to sexual abuse charges.

His trial is scheduled for Feb. 9.

Two other students are also charged in the case. A 17-year-old wants his case transferred to juvenile court, and the lawyer for the 16-year-old said he is considering a similar request.

All three teens who were charged have been expelled from school.
