Flash flood warnings follow storms

The National Weather Service has issued flash flood warnings for Goodhue County and Wabasha County as storms are expected to produce heavy rainfall.

The weather service issued the warnings shortly before 5 p.m. The warning for Goodhue County is in effect until 7:45 p.m. and the warning for Wabasha County is in place through 8:45 p.m.

Areas in Goodhue that could experience flooding include: Red Wing; Cannon Falls; Pine Island; Zumbrota; Kenyon; Goodhue; Wanamingo; Frontenac; Vasa; Bellechester; Frontenac State Park; and Wastedo, according to the warning.

In Wabasha, areas that could experience flooding include: Wabasha; Bellchester; Lake City; Gilbert Valley; and Maple Springs.

As much as two inches of rain had already been reported and flooding could begin shortly, the warning said.

The weather service advised drivers to not drive through flooded roadways.
