The Mayo Clinic Care Network has added a new member, Parrish Medical Center in central Florida.
It's the third Florida Care Network member.
Care Network members are self-owned health organizations that gain access to Mayo Clinic expertise and the most recent Mayo protocols.
Parrish doctors will have "access to the latest evidence-based medical information through the AskMayoExpert database and connect directly with Mayo specialists on questions related to complex medical cases," according to a Mayo press release.
Health organizations are typically invited to join the Care Network after extended collaboration with Mayo.

"The primary goal of the network is to help people gain the benefits of Mayo Clinic expertise close to home, ensuring that patients only travel outside of the region when necessary," the press release states.
It's also generally recognized that the connection to Mayo boosts member organizations' profiles, bringing a higher level of medical expertise to patients and, when needed, giving patients a direct connection to Mayo. That means many people in need of complex care get referred to Mayo's medical centers in Rochester, Florida and Arizona.
The Care Network includes member organizations serving Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Mexico, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Puerto Rico, South Dakota, Vermont, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
