Designers of the proposed Center Place Galleria Mall indicate that all the space has been reserved. New stores include Laura Ashley and Talbot’s women’s clothing shops and a B. Dalton Bookseller.

1962 — 50 years ago
Considerable damage from the swollen Zumbro River has been caused. Water that was waist deep on Main Street in Zumbro Falls has receded. Virtually all basements were flooded, and power was lost to most homes. Damage also was extensive at Whitewater State Park.

The Methodist Church on North Oak Street in Lake City is open. The new building features Sunday School and fellowship rooms, a pastor’s study and other rooms.
1937 — 75 years ago
Beginning April 1, there's a 30 mph speed limit and a two-hour parking limit in the business district in Rochester. Speeding and parking fines will be $10. Cyclists will be forbidden to ride more than one on a bike and to ride more than two abreast on any street.
Soldiers Field will be the take-off field for a test flight of Dr. Jean Piccard this spring. The Swiss-born American chemist, engineer, professor and high-altitude balloonist is now associated with the University of Minnesota's department of aeronautic engineering.
