Golf tournament to fund cancer research

The third annual Ryan Gordon Memorial Golf Tournament & Silent Auction will take place on June 20 at Cedar River Golf Course in Adams.

The golfing begins with a shotgun start at noon, and follows a four-person, best-shot golf tournament format. A wide variety of prizes, including Minnesota Twins and St. Paul Saints baseball tickets, sports memorabilia, quilts and gift certificates to area restaurants have been donated by individuals and businesses and will be available at the silent auction.

Cost is $50 per golfer, including a hamburger meal afterwards; non-golfers can still enjoy the meal for $10. All proceeds will directly fund cancer research at the Hormel Institute. Pre-registration is preferred by June 13, though later registrations will still be accepted.

The tournament was created in 2013 by Roger and Shirley Gordon as a memorial to their son Ryan, who died from stomach cancer in 2011 at age 42.
