A thriving center for tourism, medical care, industry, technology and agriculture, the ten communities that make up Goodhue County all have individual histories and interesting attributes.
Many are located along the winding Mississippi River and yet others are located miles inland, but they share a common denominator; rolling hills and lush green valleys, acres of farm lands and woods, the perfect Southeastern Minnesota landscape.
Located between the Twin Cities to the north and Rochester to the south, the communities are easily within driving distance of both. Sixteen lakes are within the county as well as numerous businesses and manufacturing plants. Much of Prairie Island Reservation is located within the county. Red Wing (the county seat) is a well known historic tourism destination. Red Wing Shoes has the largest boot and corporate museum in the nation. Cannon Falls welcomes bikers and hikers to their Cannon Valley Trail. A recent addition to Zumbrota is the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge.
