ARDEN HILLS — It was a memorable Veteran's Day for members of a Minnesota National Guard unit and their families.
Men and women of the 147th Human Resources Company returned to the guard armory in Arden Hills Sunday night after being deployed for nearly a year. The company was helping with the troop drawn down in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Specialist Anita Playle was among 18 soldiers who returned in the first wave. Twenty-seven additional members will be home by the end of the month.
It was an emotional and long-awaited reunion for Playle, her husband and their 9-year-old daughter. Playle tells KARE-TV that every waking moment overseas she wondered how her family was doing back home.
