A Rochester man told police he'd been the victim of a home invasion after an incident Saturday night.
According to the report, the man said he'd been doing woodworking in the garage of his home in the 500 block of 11th Avenue Northeast when a man entered the garage.
The alleged suspect demanded money from the man, who resisted, the report says. That's when the intruder pulled out a handgun and held it to the victim's head, said Capt. John Sherwin. The alleged victim was able to knock the gun away and put the suspect in a choke hold, Sherwin said, but the man was able to get free and run away.
Officers who responded to the scene recovered a handgun in the garage, the report says. The suspect is described as a black male in his late 20s, 5 feet, 8 inches tall and about 180 pounds.
The incident was reported about 8:30 p.m.
