A national memory care center firm plans to open a Med City complex in early August.
Oregon-based Anthem Memory Care, working with Rochester’s Titan Development and Investments, is wrapping up construction of a 45-unit memory care facility called Cascade Creek at 3576 Fairway Ridge Lane. It will accommodate up to 50 residents.
It's located in front of the Fairway Ridge Cooperative senior living complex, though the two care centers are unrelated.
Anthem CEO Isaac Scott said while his company's relationship with Andy Chafoulias' Titan Development certainly was a factor in coming to Rochester, the city’s reputation in health care as the home of Mayo Clinic made it very attractive as the site of their first Minnesota facility.
“Rochester, as a whole, is seen as the healthcare epicenter of Minnesota... and, frankly, as the health care epicenter of the U.S. Minnesota, as a whole, is a target region for us,” he said. “Minnesota has a adoptability of senior care.”
Anthem already operates 11 other memory care communities in Illinois, Colorado, Kansas and California.
Scott anticipates having 30 to 34 employees to staff the 35,900-square-foot complex.
While Rochester has other facilities that include memory care, he believes Anthem’s model will set them apart.
“From the moment you step on the property , we are completely geared and focused on providing targeted, clinical and engagement services for folks dealing with cognitive impairment,” said Scott.
In addition to hands-on activities like creating art, working on public service projects, making woodcrafts or even cooking, Anthem also uses technology to engage their residents. The iN2L digital engagement system offers personalized photos and video as well as video calls.
