Heard on the Street: New Rochester dealership to open in December

Rochester's newest car dealership is expected to be open and firing on all cylinders by early December.

Construction of the new $8 million Subaru dealership is rolling along in high gear at the corner of 48th Street Southeast and St. Bridget Road Southeast.

The dealership is a spinoff of Clements Chevrolet Cadillac Subaru. It is being built just east of Mills Fleet Farmand south of Shoppes on Maine.

Clements Managing Partner John Wadesays work is on track at the new complex for a December opening.

"We're excited to be welcoming customers to our new store just in time for the holidays," Wade said.

Wade owns Clements with partners Jack Remick, Dave Remick and Dan Penz.

Clements, which now has 115 employees, expects to add 20 new positions to staff the new site. Wade estimates that equals an addition of more than $1 million in payroll for Rochester.

In 2011, Clements built a 4,200-square-foot showroom adjacent to its main dealership in front of the Apache Mallfor Subaru, but the demand has outgrown its capacity to display 40 vehicles. The new lot is expected to be able to house more than 370 new and used vehicles.

Plans are in the works on how to best utilize the 2011 showroom once the new dealership is up and running.
