Heroin ring bust in Austin, 6 taken into custody

AUSTIN — Authorities made six arrests and seized 110 grams of drugs as they cracked down on a heroin ring early Thursday morning.

Three search warrants were executed at around 7 a.m. in southwest Austin for a heroin ring, said Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger. Three residences were searched — in the 800 block of 12th Avenue Southwest, the 600 block of 10th Avenue Southwest and the 1000 block of 11th Avenue Southwest — as part of an ongoing investigation with local, county and federal authorities.

The Austin Police Department, Mower County Sheriff's Office, the Southeast Minnesota Drug Task Force and Special Incident Response Team were all involved.

From these residences, there were approximately 80 grams of crack cocaine and 30 grams of heroin seized, Krueger stated. As a result, six individuals were arrested and taken into custody: Amy Wagner, Brianna Ober, Stephanie Behrends, Tangelia Jones, Carolyn Molhusen, and Earnest Pitchford.

The incident is still being investigated. The six individuals are anticipated to appear in court later today and potentially face a variety of drug-related charges.
