Heat advisories have been posted for Goodhue, Freeborn and Steele counties in this region, as well as counties to the north and west.
The rest of the region won't be an ice box either.
The forecast by the National Weather Service in La Crosse, Wis., calls for highs from 90 in Austin and along the Mississippi River to 92 in Rochester. Heat index values will be around 100 degrees or higher. Winds will gust as high as 26 mph.
The heat could lead to showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 a.m., with an overnight low of only 68.
There is a slighter chance for precipitation Wednesday.

After that, temperatures will cool down a bit, and the service isn't predicting rain.
