The Kahler Hotel is undergoing a $750,000 project to create an updated, lighter image for the hotel’s public spaces. The project includes a new marble floor in the lobby and updated looks in the Heritage, Windsor and Centennial meeting halls.
Group W cable announced a price increase up to $14.95 for the basic service. Group W serves 27,000 customers in the Rochester area.

The St. Charles High School debate team tied for first in the South St. Paul Invitational. Team members include Joanne Daniels, Jean Lauden, Joan Vanderau and Mary Ann Hynes.

1936 — 75 years ago
A 40 mph wind made walking and driving hazardous. The wind raised a large dust storm, causing early darkness in the area. Patrolman Fitzpatrick, stationed near the Mayo Clinic, was kept busy chasing women’s hats as they swirled around the streets.
