Historical society harvest celebration set for Saturday at fairgrounds

The Mower County Historical Society will hold its annual Fall Harvest Celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday on the east side of the Mower County Fairgrounds.

The event will include living history demonstrations, such as oat threshing, logging and sawing; wagon rides will be available, as will rides in a 1921 Model T.

A bake sale will be held; the Sons of Norway will demonstrate their lefse-making technique and sell the lefse as it's made.

Other activities will include making candles, pressing apple cider, learning about pioneer chores and cultivating a garden.

Big Ben and Brian's Concertina Band will provide entertainment.

A new feature this year is an antique tractor, car, implement and gas engine show; there is no charge to exhibit.

Admission is free, but donations will be accepted. Raffle tickets for a handmade quilt will be sold.

In case of inclement weather, just the bake sale will be held Saturday. The other activities and the bake sale will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
