History Center hosts antique appraisal event

The History Center of Olmsted County will present an antiques and collectibles appraisal event at 4 p.m. Tuesday featuring author and antiques expert Mark F. Moran.

Appraisals are $15 per item, with proceeds benefiting the center. All items must be registered in advance, which can be done in person or by contacting the center at 507-282-9447. The public is also welcome to come and watch.

Objects eligible for appraisal include fine art, furniture, ceramics, glassware, vintage photographs, advertising, folk art, toys, metalware, clocks, costume jewelry, musical instruments. Ineligible items include any weapons (with the exception of folding knives with advertising), Nazi memorabilia, coins and paper money, fine jewelry (including precious gems) and Beanie Babies.

Moran is available to make home visits. House calls are $75 an hour, and there is no mileage charge if within 10 miles of the appraisal event site. To arrange, call 715-281-5060 or email moranm1953@gmail.com.
