Hormel Foods Corp.'s chief executive officer Jeffrey M. Ettinger has been elected to the board of directors for the Toro Co., an international provider of turf and landscape maintenance equipment.
Ettinger's election, effective immediately, brings the Toro board to 10 members, Toro said on Thursday.
Ettinger, 51, also is the chairman of the board and president of Hormel Foods, an Austin-based international food manufacturer and marketer.
"Jeff is a seasoned executive with strong business acumen and a proven track record of driving growth through innovation and strategic acquisitions," said Michael J. Hoffman, Toro's chairman and chief executive officer, in the release. "His perspectives and experience will be invaluable, and we're very pleased to have him join our board."
Toro is based in Bloomington, Minn.

Ettinger joined Hormel Foods in 1989 and has served in a variety of roles. Ettinger was elected in 2004 to president of Hormel Foods then to chief executive officer in January 2006, and chairman of the board in November 2006.
Ettinger also is a member of the board of directors of the Grocery Manufacturers of America, the American Meat Institute, the Minnesota Business Partnership, the Austin Medical Center Foundation and the Hormel Foundation.
