We’d like to sincerely thank the community for supporting our live music in the Peace Garden this summer.
We were able to host the Austin Community Jazz Band on July 2 and family friendly Koo Koo Kanga Roo on July 24. Both concerts were funded by the MarySue Hormel Harris Trust, with the goal of providing opportunities for music appreciation for all ages in our community.
Our commitment to music is inspired by the legacy of the Hormel family: George Hormel and his wife, Lillian, were great champions of music, and Lillian was a talented pianist and organist.
We plan to continue to offer music programming to the Austin area and will launch a new piano contest — the Harris Piano Competition — this fall.
