Hormel donates microwave meals to hurricane disaster relief

Hormel Foods Corp. said it is donating about 220,000 Hormel microwave meals to Feeding America to aid in relief efforts following Tropical Storm Irene.

The Compleats are ideal for use in a disaster kit because they do not need to be frozen or refrigerated, Hormel said today.

"Our thoughts are with everyone affected by Tropical Storm Irene," said Julie H. Craven, vice president of corporate communications at Hormel Foods. "With the clean-up phase under way, we hope these meals are a convenient way to feed those in need."

Hormel Compleats microwave meals are 10-ounce meals that feature chicken, beef or turkey as well as vegetables and pasta, potatoes or rice.
