WABASHA — A Plainview woman has been charged with three counts of felony theft after authorities say she siphoned nearly $50,000 from her employer.
Tammy Irene Palmer, 51, made her first appearance Tuesday in Wabasha County District Court. She was released on her own recognizance and is due back in court Dec. 8.
The investigation began in September 2014, when Edgewood Acres Trailer Park in Plainview discovered Palmer, the park manager, had been collecting rent, then depositing the money into her own bank account, the complaint says.
In addition, Palmer is accused of setting up purchases of mobile homes within the park and not recording the transaction. Instead, the payments went into her own account, court documents say.
The investigator was able to subpoena Palmer's personal bank accounts and found several checks and money orders that reportedly went into her account, despite being marked "rent," "lot rent" or "Edgewood Acres."

The confirmed amount deposited was more than $49,000. Palmer worked at the park from February 2011 until her termination in October 2014.
