KASSON — The city's residents have something to smile about.
Kasson is among the top 15 happiest cities in Minnesota, according to a study conducted by RoadSnacks. The ranking was based on the city's percentage of residents with a college degree, percent married, percent who own homes, poverty rates, commute times, unemployment rates, and cost of living, according to Only in Your State .
The city of more than 6,000 was no. 2 on the list, surpassed only by Mendota Heights. That means Kasson is among the best of the best because Minnesota was ranked the second-happiest state last year in a separate study conducted by WalletHub.
"What a great honor for Kasson," Mayor Steve Johnson said. "I attribute it all to the residents of Kasson. A lot of pride by all that live here."
Johnson went on to credit the ranking to the Kasson-Mantorville School District, the city's parks, fire department, police department and that "the whole infrastructure is second to none."

Many marketing firms issue rankings of cities based on various data, listing cities as healthiest, most livable, even snobbiest. As a counterpoint, RoadSnacks also listed its most miserable cities in the state. Sorry, Winona, you're No. 10.
