Kathleen 'Kate' Flynn — Rochester

Kathleen "Kate" Flynn, of Rochester, passed away on June 2, 2016.

Kate was born May 26, 1935, in Osakis, Minn., to Raymond Flynn and Katherine (Clarity) Flynn. She was a graduate of Saint Catherine College and joined the Rochester Franciscan Community of Sisters. She taught Catholic Elementary School as a Sister and then in the Pine Island School District for 20 years. She earned a master's degree in elementary counseling and became the elementary counselor for the elementary school for another 20 years. She was named both as the Teacher of the Year in the school district and Counselor of the Year for the Southeast Minnesota School Counselors Association.

Kate enjoyed playing her saxophone, camping, fishing, golfing, swimming and other activities

She is survived by a sister, Helen Swore; a brother, Richard Flynn; good friend, Fr. Robert Stamschror; along with many nieces and nephews in several generations. Kate was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Frisvold; and brother Patrick Flynn.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Pax Christi Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church prior to the Mass. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.
