Learn about golden eagles then go out to count them

ELBA — Birders can learn how to identify golden eagles, which are now spending winters in the blufflands of southeast Minnesota, northeast Iowa and southwest Wisconsin, at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 9 at the Whitewater State Park Visitor's Center..

An expert from the National Eagle Center in Wabasha will offer an educational program about golden eagles, featuring the center's golden eagle ambassador, Donald.

Those who want to do more can then go out Jan. 16 in the tri-state blufflands to try to see golden eagles as part of the 12th Wintering Golden Eagle Survey

Those interested in volunteering for the survey must attend a training session and should contact Mehus at http://golden@nationaleaglecenter.org.
