Less than 24 hours after a frustrating loss, the Rochester Lourdes boys hockey team bounced back nicely on Thursday morning.
The Eagles extended their season by two more days and one more game, beating Alexandria, 7-0, in a Class A state tournament consolation game at Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis.
Sophomore Jason Samuelson led the Eagles with a goal and three assists, while senior defenseman Rory Vesel also had three assists. Senior forward Andy Benner -- one of the Eagles' best players in Wednesday's opening-round loss to Hibbing -- had a big game, too, with a pair of goals and one assist. Sophomore Alex Funk also scored twice.
No. 3-ranked Lourdes (25-4-1) outshot the Cardinals (12-17-1), 34-20.
Senior goalie Nick Heimer stopped all 20 shots he faced to pick up his 25th victory of the season.

The Eagles will play Saturday at 10 a.m. at Mariucci Arena for the consolation championship, against Breck or New Ulm.
