Man allegedly brought marijuana to meeting with probation officer

A Stewartville man is behind bars after allegedly traveling with a bag of marijuana in his car to a meeting with his probation officer.

Rochester police Lt. Casey Moilanen said an 18-year-old showed up for an appointment with his probation officer shortly before 11 a.m. on Wednesday when the officer noticed that the man smelled like marijuana.

The two went to the man's car, and the probation officer reportedly discovered a bag of marijuana and a scale. The officer also reportedly found text messages on the man's cell phone that were related to selling marijuana.

The man was arrested for fifth-degree controlled substance crime with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is on probation for a drug-related offense.
