A man is in custody today after allegedly waving a realistic-looking BB gun at vehicles in southeast Rochester, officials said.
The incident began about 9:15 p.m. Sunday, when a woman told dispatchers that she had seen the 28-year-old crossing Marion Road near Park Lane, walking with two dogs, when he was almost hit by a car. The caller said the man then pulled what appeared to be a handgun from his waistband, and started pointing it not only at the car that almost hit him, but other cars as well.
Responding officers located the man behind Longfellow school, the report says, and took him to the ground at gunpoint. He allegedly admitted he had a BB gun in his pocket; the gun was recovered.
The man faces multiple charges, including having a BB gun on school property, said Lt. Casey Moilanen.
The Post-Bulletin typically doesn't identify suspects until they've been charged.
