Man awaits charges after alleged assault

A 38-year-old Rochester man is in custody today after police say he punched his neighbor in an apparent dispute over loud music.

Officers were called about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to 120 N. Broadway for a report of an assault. There, they found a 49-year-old man who told them this:

The suspect came to his apartment door and asked him to turn down his music. The alleged victim complied; shortly after that, the 38-year-old returned to the apartment, knocked and entered the residence.

The victim told officers the suspect then punched him, and left the apartment. There was no substantial injury as a result of the alleged assault, the report says.

The Post-Bulletin typically doesn't identify suspects until they've been charged.
