Man convicted of six counts of criminal sexual conduct

PRESTON — A Fillmore County jury has found a Spring Valley man guilty of six counts of criminal sexual conduct involving two children.

Leland Ronald Nelson II, 27, was found guilty Nov. 14 of two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct-penetration; two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct-victim under 13; and two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct-significant relationship.

Nelson was acquitted of two additional counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct-penetration and two other counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct-significant relationship.

Sentencing has been set for Jan. 27.

The first-degree charges are punishable by up to 30 years in prison and a $40,000 fine; each second-degree charge carries a maximum punishment of 25 years in prison and a $35,000 fine.
