Emergency personnel from Eyota and Dover Fire and Ambulance, Gold Cross Ambulance, Olmsted County Sheriff's Department and the Minnesota State Patrol along with a Mayo Clinic helicopter responded to a three vehicle crash Tuesday evening on MN 42 at Olmsted County Road 9 just before 7 p.m.

EYOTA — A St. Louis Park man was seriously injured and airlifted to Mayo Clinic Hospital - Saint Marys Campus on Tuesday in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Minnesota Highway 42 and Olmsted County Road 9, east of Rochester.

Ladd Gorman, 30, was westbound on Highway 42 just after 7 p.m. when he failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with vehicles traveling northbound and southbound, according to the Minnesota State Patrol incident report.

Gorman first collided with a northbound pickup driven by 22-year-old Logan Deobald, of Zumbro Falls. That collision sent Gorman's vehicle spinning into a southbound vehicle driven by Daniel Moriarty, a 20-year-old Savage resident.

A Mayo Clinic helicopter was dispatched to transport Gorman to the hospital. The Minnesota State Patrol described his injuries as "serious," but a Mayo Clinic spokesman said today that he wasn't listed as a patient.

Deobald, Moriarty and Moriarty's four passengers escaped injury.

The intersection where the accident occurred is about five miles north of U.S. Highway 14, where the Minnesota Department of Transportation is constructing a roundabout following a fatal crash in 2013. County Road 9 currently serves as the detour route around the construction, which is expected to wrap up early next month.

MnDOT says U.S. 14 through Eyota typically sees about 5,800 vehicles per day, most of which have been diverted to County Road 9.
