Man jailed after using brother's fishing license

CARLTON — A Cloquet man found himself behind bars after using his brother's fishing license.

A Minnesota Department of Natural Resources conservation officer asked Andrew Swenson to see his fishing license while Swenson was fishing recently on the St. Louis River in Cloquet. Swenson was arrested after he presented his brother's license as his own. Swenson told the officer his own application for a license had been rejected because he failed to pay a fine for fishing with extra lines the previous year.

The Duluth News Tribune says Swenson was arrested on a warrant for failing to pay the fine. He's facing charges in Carlton County for giving false information to an officer, fishing without a license and borrowing a license.
