Man shot in La Crescent; shooter taken into custody

LA CRESCENT — A man was injured early Monday night in La Crescent after being shot in the abdomen or chest.

La Crescent police later arrested a man after he said he's the one who shot the victim.

The Houston County Sheriff's Department said it got the call at 9:28 p.m. from the victim who said he had been shot. The home is in the 500 block of South Sixth Street.

La Crescent police, sheriff's deputies and the State Patrol responded. The victim, an adult male, was outside when officers arrived. While an officer began providing medical care, another adult male came out of the house and said he's the one who shot the victim. He was taken into custody and the victim taken to a La Crosse, Wis., hospital.

"It has been determined that the shooter and victim are known to each other and the incident remains under investigation," according to La Crescent police.
