Mayo Clinic Health System sites in Mankato and Eau Claire, Wis., have been included in the U.S. News & World Report list of Best Regional Hospitals .
According to Mayo, the new U.S. News list features 247 hospitals outside major metropolitan areas.

Best regional hospitals ranked "as high performing in at least one of the 16 specialties." The magazine's Top Hospitals ranking is published each summer. For that one, Mayo Clinic ranked among the best hospitals in 16 adults specialties and 10 pediatric ones.
"This hospital is a 1,302-bed general medical and surgical facility with 62,400 annual admissions, according to the latest data," the magazine says. "It performed 29,883 annual inpatient and 21,035 outpatient surgeries. Its emergency room had 79,542 visits."
