The Jerusalem Post is reporting that Mayo Clinic and Sheba Medical Center near Tel Aviv, Israel, have entered a "strategic agreement" allowing heart doctors from each institution to serve as visiting physicians at the other facility.
Professor Michael Glickson, head of the pacemaker and electrophysiology unit at Tel Hashomer, said he and Dr. Amir Lehrman of Mayo Clinic have worked on the project for two years, according to the Jerusalem Post newspaper.
During an event to mark the accord, a 78-year-old woman underwent catheterization and endoscopic surgery to receive a new heart valve, and Mayo Clinic cardiac surgeons watched on a video screen.
