Mayo staffer named 'distinguished fellow'

The Society for Vascular Surgery has announced that Dr. Gustavo S. Oderich of Mayo Clinic in Rochester was elected a "distinguished fellow" during the society's June meeting.

The designation is bestowed upon an active, international or senior member of the society who has made substantial, sustained contributions in two of three categories — research, service or education, says an announcement from the society.

Oderich is director of endovascular therapy for the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Mayo.

Oderich is the principal or co-investigator for 42 ongoing research projects, according to the society. He has served on review boards for six medical journals and been an invited reviewer for 18 others. He has written or co-written 79 peer-reviewed articles, 22 book chapters, five editorials and 120 abstracts and letters.
