What are the biggest challenges facing Mower County right now?
The biggest challenges facing Mower County are excessive spending and too high of taxes to cover this spending. The county has certain things that have to be funded but other things should be looked at and discussed with more detail as to if the county can or needs to spend the funds.
The new justice center and current remodels at the government center and LEC have raised some concerns among citizens. Please share your thoughts.
The new Justice Center and LEC are and have been a concern for citizens because of obvious costs to build the Justice Center and remodeling costs of LEC and dispatch. The county board voted this in with a three-phase process when agreeing to build Justice Center. First Justice Center, then LEC and dispatch. Although it may be a concern for citizens, it is going to happen, so we need to look at other ways to curb spending.
What makes you the best candidate for the board at this time?
I feel I am the best candidate for county commissioner because of my experience on the city council and dealing with similar issues and I will bring fresh ideas to the county board. If elected, I will be the person always available and willing to listen, I will not answer or vote on anything until I have all the facts and information needed to make the best decision for the citizens and what is best for their future.
