Mower County Senior Center: Learn about Cedar River history
Calling all history buffs. Here is your chance to come and see local history.
Tim Ruzek, public outreach coordinator for the Cedar River Watershed District and co-chair of the Vision 2020 Waterways committee, will give a presentation at 2 p.m. Tuesday about the history of the Cedar River. It will include dozens of historic images from the Austin area dating back to the late 1800s. Some present day photos will be used to show how some areas have changed dramatically during the years. Everyone is welcome!
On Friday at noon, youth from the Riverland Community College "Be Your Best" summer academy will make and serve a Mexican meal for everyone. Then, they hope to play a couple of games with Senior Center attendees. There will be a $5 charge for the meal to help cover the cost. Hope to see you all there. Show your support for these dedicated kids! Please sign up by stopping by the front desk or calling 433-2370, ext. 0.
Don't forget our coffee shop, where every day you can have homemade soup for $1 and a sandwich for 50 cents. On Tuesday, we will be having stroganoff hotdish in the coffee shop starting at 11:30 a.m. for $2. You always are welcome at the center.
