No new swine flu deaths reported in Minnesota

ST. PAUL — Flu activity remains sporadic in Minnesota, as the second-wave of the swine flu continues creeping along while the seasonal flu hasn't yet taken off.

Updated flu statistics from the Minnesota Department of Health were released Wednesday for the week starting Feb. 7.

They show no new swine flu deaths, no new hospitalizations and only one outbreak of flu-like symptoms in schools.

The report also shows that in the past two years, flu activity was considered to be "widespread" at the sixth week of the year, but this year remains only spotty.

Since May 2009, 62 people have died in Minnesota from the flu. Fifty-five of them were directly linked to the swine flu.
