Officers respond to gunshots near Galloway Park

Austin police continue to investigate after several gunshots were fired in the Galloway Park area Tuesday evening.

According to Police Chief Brian Krueger, officers were sent to the area about 5:10 p.m. Witnesses at the scene said they saw four males running from the park, but no one had seen the shooting.

Investigators located three shell casings that "appear to be 9 mm rounds" near Seventh Street and First Avenue Southwest, Krueger said.

There was no indication where the shots were fired or where the rounds went, he said.

Officers spoke to people matching the description of the alleged shooters, the report says, but no suspects were named.

Krueger also said there's no indication the incident is related to the recent home invasions that reportedly involved similar suspects.
