STEWARTVILLE — Authorities said today that the preliminary investigation into the death of a Stewartville woman indicates it was a suicide.
A relative found the 28-year-old woman inside her home in the 400 block of Fifth Street Northeast shortly before noon Thursday. The woman lived alone, said Capt. Scott Behrns of the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office.
The investigation involves an abundance of caution, he said, "because of the previous history of law enforcement contact at the residence," but would not elaborate.
A final determination of the cause and manner of death will be made by the medical examiner's office, Behrns said, pending results of toxicology and other tests. Those typically take six to eight weeks to return.
