Officials release name of Red Wing man killed in car-scooter crash

RED WING — The Minnesota State Patrol has released the name of a 49-year-old Red Wing man who was killed Wednesday morning while riding a motor scooter Red Wing.

Michael H. Szymanski was riding a Schwinn Moped when a car that was turning left along U.S. 61 at Hill Street collided with him, according to a State Patrol report.

The driver of the car, Nicholas Sparby, 29, of Red Wing, wasn't injured.
