One killed in rural Olmsted crash
One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash in rural Dover, the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office reported.
The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Quincy Township, north of the city of Dover, at the intersection of county roads 9 and 10. According to a sheriff's office release, two pickup trucks collided in the intersection.
A lone driver was in a Chevrolet pickup; a driver and three passengers were in a Ford pickup. During the crash, one person was ejected from the Ford truck and was pronounced dead at the accident scene, the sheriff's office said.
The identity of the deceased person was not known Thursday morning. A sheriff's office representative said the identity could be announced Friday or Monday.
The driver of the Chevrolet pickup was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a hospital by the Mayo Clinic helicopter. The three other people in the Ford pickup were transported by ambulance to a hospital.
It is believed one of the vehicles failed to stop at the intersection, according to the sheriff's release. The accident is under investigation with the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office and the joint Rochester-Olmsted field mapping unit.
