HOUSTON — The annual Owl Festival in Houston will be March 5-6 with games, a chance to learn about and take pictures of owls, play owl games, dissect owl pellets and take part in a children's hooting contest.
The Festival kicks off on March 5 with a Cub Scout program followed by a live owl program and owl prowls to call in wild owls.
There will be a dinner on March 6, during which winners of the 2010 World Owl Hall of Fame will be presented with their awards. Also, Marge Gibson of the Raptor Education Group in Antigo, Wis., will speak.
Some programs, such as dissecting an owl pellet, sell out in advance, so advanced registration is suggested.
