Rochester's new domestic partner registry will be the focus of a Post-Bulletin Dialogues community meeting tonight.
The Rochester City Council, on a 6-1 vote, approved the registry process, which provides couples a way to identify their partners and certifies them, in effect, as spouses for such purposes as hospital visits. The cities of Minneapolis, St. Paul, Duluth and Edina have similar registries.
Mayor Ardell Brede will be among the panelists joining P-B Managing Editor Jay Furst at the informal public meeting, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Rochester Public Library. The event is free, as is the coffee, and you're encouraged to bring questions and comments.
