Patrol seek witnesses in U.S. 52 fatality

The Minnesota State Patrol is looking for witnesses who were driving on U.S. 52 in Cannon Falls a little after 6 p.m. Sunday when a man who was trying to cross the highway was hit by two vehicles and killed.

Patrol Sgt. James Boley said both drivers of both vehicles that struck Patrick E. Daly, 42, of Stewartville stopped. What is needed are witnesses who may have seen Daly trying to cross or have other details that could help the patrol understand.

"We are trying to put the pieces together so we can know exactly what happened up there," Boley said.

A large number of vehicles were going by at the time and the patrol wants drivers of those vehicles to call because drivers may have small details that could put the pieces together. Daly was trying to cross the highway at the area where there's a sporting goods store on the west side, he said.

Drivers of the two cars didn't see everything, he said. "These things happen to fast that those involved don't have much vision of what happened," Boley said.
